There is something about elopements that I truly connect with. The authenticity and intention when marrying your person with only a few close friends there is such a beautiful thing to witness. I am so grateful that I was able to be apart of this day.
Emily and Jason grew up in Vermont but live in Colorado. We weren’t able to meet until the Tuesday before their wedding when we took their engagement photos. We met up in Waterbury for a drink and chatted about the wedding and living in Vermont and their lives in Colorado. When we realized that the sun was due to set in under two hours, we rushed around Smuggler’s Notch taking photos and climbing over rocks. It was an absolute blast. I am so grateful that I was able to cross paths with these two amazing humans.
In the wee hours of the morning on January 1, 2016, after everyone had said their “Happy New Years” and gone to bed, I sat alone at the kitchen table with a cup of tea and wrote on the first page of a new journal. I wrote “2016 is not going to be a easy year, but it will be a necessary year.”
